Bloomington Pipers’ Society

Hello! We’re the Bloomington Pipers’ Society.

Important update regarding COVID-19: On May 15, the Bloomington Pipers’ Society board of directors voted to extend its suspension of all in-person events of the Bloomington Pipers’ Society to June 30th. The organization is continuing digital activities and will now resume its piper performance referral program. BPS leadership will revisit COVID-19 precautions at the end of June.

History

The Bloomington Pipers’ Society was founded in January of 2015 in order to provide a space for pipers to get together outside of their bands, put their resources together for education, and to promote bagpiping in the area. Up through summer of 2015, the BPS met at Noodles and Company at Eastland Plaza in Bloomington. In October 2015 meetings moved to 800 N Indiana St, hosting more organized sessions featuring pipe maker presentations, snare drum demonstrations, and highland dance.

As of January 2019, the Society has settled into its musical home at the Runcible Spoon Cafe and Restaurant, where Society members perform solo tunes as well as repertoire from the BPS set list on the second Friday of each month.
